Denim on Denim

{Ecote via Urban Outfitters jean jacket, Madewell shirt, Madewell jeans, Sam Edelman boots, Michael Kors watch, Madewell bangle, J. Crew cocktail ring, gifted pearls}
The weather finally decided it's not summer yet, and gray skies have ensued. On the bright side, I can pull out those warmer clothes I haven't quite gotten tired of yet.

This is THE softest denim jacket I've ever encountered. It feels like velvet, and the cinched waist makes it a little more feminine than the typical jean jacket. I like pairing it with dark jeans; though I used to avoid denim-on-denim at all costs, I've come to love the look of the contrasting blues. Speaking of color, it turns out mustard and navy go perfectly together...how convenient that they are my two most favorite hues.

I bought this shirt for the chain-link accent on the neck. I absolutely love it--it's like a built in necklace. The toughness of the chain balances out the preppy stripes in such an awesome, quirky way.

These are, hands down, my go-to boots. My qualifications for a great pair of flat boots are the following: discreet heel, adequately wide calf opening to ensure ample jeans-tucking room, quality leather, and a touch of flair. I love mine because of the military-ish buttons up the back, and the fact that the heel and toe incorporate a black finish so that I can literally wear them with anything. Versatility is everything (especially on a college budget).
