The Boyfriend Suit

I went for the boyfriend theme with my outfit yesterday. I love the borrowed-from-the-boys look, especially in the form of a great blazer and/or slouchy jeans. 

Sometimes I just can't get certain color palettes out of my head. Navy and mustard is one of them; I find myself inadvertently putting things together purely on the basis that they'll create my current favorite color combination. 

I picked up these shoes recently and am obsessed. I love the cognac color of the leather, especially the cool extra layer. Plus, they're comfortable enough to be worn throughout a day of classes.

Wanting White

Every time summery temperatures roll around, I can't get enough white. Whether it's styled bohemian-chic, prim and proper, paired with natural makeup, or bright reds (as seen here), white stands out as the perfect color for warm weather. I especially love it in sheer, lacy, or eyelet fabrics; I will definitely be picking up a few new white options here. 

On another note, I randomly met one of my blogging idols, Karla Deras, while out at lunch yesterday. I am not ashamed to admit that I was completely starstruck, as I have been following her site since the very beginning of my fashion blog addiction. I even dedicated an entire post to her. And, she could not have been nicer in person! If you haven't yet checked out her blog yet, you must.

Stitched

Okay, so I realize that this post may have very little to do with fashion. But how amazing are these embroidered book covers? I'm in love! They make me so happy. I've definitely been on an embroidery kick lately, especially after receiving this completely amazing gift for my birthday...

So much Austin pride.

Peachy Keen

Just a few quick photos of an outfit from the other day. I unintentionally ended up looking like an advertisement for J. Crew...I recently went on a little shopping spree there, so this is the effect. Their clothes just work so seamlessly with one another, it's hard not to wear them together. 

Sidenote--I bought the shorts my junior year of high school (4 years ago!). Crisp chinos are timeless.

 I wear this belt more than I'd like to admit...and I'm pretty sure it cost about $15, from Target naturally. A woven belt is genius because you can wear it at your waist or hips without having to worry about the sizing.

This shirt is one of the best fitting tops I have ever owned. I swear, it fits perfectly--in the arms, body, and shoulders. And I don't know about you, but when it comes to buying button-downs, the button placement is a critical factor for me. I need buttons that hit in all the right places, and this is one of the few shirts I've found that does.
And the shoes? I promise these photos don't do them justice. I never would have thought I'd want any type of shoe with ribbons woven into them (that's like, so middle school). But even though these are super-precious, I don't mind the girly-girl feel at all. Next I want to pair them with jean cutoffs for a little bit of a tougher vibe to go with my ballerina flats.

Say what you will about matchy-matchy-ness, but I love that the shoes and top are almost exactly the same color. This happy, peachy hue is just too hard to resist!

Field Day

Loving the innocent/sultry mix in these photos, and the 1940's inspiration. I covet the playful trapeze and shift dresses, as well as the gorgeous lingerie. These shots remind me of this item on my lust list.

School Simple

On this hot, beautiful day, being comfortable was a priority.

I picked up these shorts recently at Urban Outfitters. I love the boy-scout feel of them! I've been on a high-waisted kick lately, so these really jumped out at me. Plus, since khaki is like a blank canvas, I've been excited to pair them with a bunch of different tops. Today I went for the nautical vibe, one of my go-to looks. 

I wanted to keep all my accessories to a minimum, so I'm only wearing my absolute basics: a watch, my favorite ring, and the necklace and bracelet I never take off. I absolutely adore the delicate, incredibly subtle heart on this bracelet, and as small as the piece is, it's the item of jewelry that people always comment on. I never take off my wishbone necklace, either. 

Beach Day
